Lib Dems Select Middlesbrough and Thornaby MP Candidate
Liberal Democrats on Teesside have chosen local campaigner Mo Waqas as their candidate to fight the new Middlesbrough and Thornaby East constituency at the next General Election. Mo lives and works locally in Stockton, where he is now employed in the social care industry, having previously worked as a prison officer.
The constituency replaces the existing Middlesbrough constituency, which was won by Labour at the last General Election in 2019.
Mo said; "It's an honour to be picked to be the Lib Dem candidate for the next General Election. Local people in Middlesbrough and Thornaby deserve an MP focussed on our communities, not one who is too busy with political games in Westminster"
Tom Livingstone, who leads the Lib Dem group on Middlesbrough Council was happy to give his endorsement to Mo's campaign, adding; "Mo is a strong voice against Labour neglect and wasteful spending in our area, and wants to stand up for the issues which really matter to local people. I'm looking forward to working with him to get a better deal for people across Middlesbrough and Thornaby"
